Washington November 23 The anti medical beer bill was signed by President Harding ending a gap in prohibition revealed by Attorney General Palmer. The act bans medicinal beer and tightens liquor prescriptions while restricting importations and granting Hawaii and Virgin Islands courts jurisdiction to enforce the national act.

Nick Sarris Killed in Mine Fall Near Gallup
Nick J. Sarris, 33, a Greek-born miner, was fatally injured Monday at the Heaton mine when a rock collapse buried him from the shoulders down. He died at St Marys hospital shortly after midnight. A Gallup native with military service in the 20th Infantry, he leaves two cousins in Gallup and was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Funeral services were held at the Episcopal church Wednesday at 2:00 pm with American Legion firing squad at Hill Crest cemetery.

Five Santa Fe Men Killed in Car Wreck Near Wickenburg
Five Santa Fe officials died and four were injured when a service car’s front axle failed on a curve, sending the vehicle down an eight foot embankment near Wickenburg Arizona. The dead include W H Oliver Los Angeles chief engineer and William Mathie Winslow division superintendent. The injured named are E McNeil Roy Stevens and others. Funeral services for Mathie were held in Winslow with attendance from Gallup and railroad officials before his body was sent to Los Angeles for interment.

Early Morning Fire Hits Santa Fe Freight Depot
A morning blaze at the Santa Fe freight depot was found by the watchman and quickly fought by city and railroad crews. Damage was limited to office fixtures and finish water damage with minimal structural harm. The fire likely started under the southwest corner beneath the office, possibly from a hobo's cigarette or steam pipe covering. The incident occurred about one week after a nearby building was burned.

First Season Deer Bagged by Gallup Hunters
Three Gallup men Guido Zecca Frank Howland and H C Fall returned from a hunting trip with three deer. Zecca took the 200 pound dressed bearlike buck while Howland and Fall killed deer weighing 180 and 120 pounds dressed. Ground was about 360 miles from Gallup and 130 miles southwest of Magdalena. The kills occurred on the trip’s first and third mornings.
