Government officers have been busy cracking down on bootlegging in Gallup. Fifteen arrests by Special Officers N J Holgate and P Birney include locals and Navajo drinkers. Hearings set before U S Commissioner B D Richards with several suspects awaiting action. An array of names appears among those arrested amid reports of open defiance of laws. Jurcic Fined For Assault In Carbon City Court
George Jurcic paid a $50 fine after being accused of assaulting Joe Amasso with brass knuckles though he denied it claiming a ring caused the injury to Amasso. Jurcic warned he would skip the payment but settled the fine. W A Doyle was discharged for lack of evidence on stolen property. James Wells won a $50 judgment against W T Beahler in a contract dispute with a counterclaim of breach by Wells. Appeals were noted by Wells’ attorney.

Solemn Dedication of Sacred Heart Church in New Mexico
The Sacred Heart Church, completed in November, was dedicated last Sunday with Archbishop J. B. Pitaval officiating in English and Spanish. The overflow crowd filled the church. special music heightened the ceremony. Priests from Pena Blanca, Jemez, Lumberton, St Michaels, and San Miguel joined local Franciscan clergy. A six course dinner for the clergy followed. Monday morning the Sacred Heart school children entertained visiting clergy in the new hall with songs and declamations, proving the program excellent. The church hall is praised as a substantial town ornament.
