Reports from Flanders describe staggering casualties as British and Belgian forces engage. Telegraphs note heavy fire and fluctuating fronts, with morale cited as a key concern amid advancing enemy positions.
Allied forces report massive gains across multiple fronts including 30,000 prisoners in three days and about 80,000 prisoners in a week. British and Belgian troops strike in Flanders while American French offensives press toward Argonne. In the Balkans, Serbians advance beyond Kotchana, with Veles and Skoplje fronts opening. numerous German and Bulgarian prisoners, guns, and material captured.
London reports British and Belgian forces renewed the assault on the Flanders battle front as 10000 German prisoners are taken in front of Cambrai. The Douai Cambrai road reaches and 200 more guns captured, with progress between Flesquieres ridge and Bourlon heights and Canadian units reaching Haven Court and the Douai Cambrai road.
Report notes that General Foch appears to favor Thursdays for major Allied offensives in France this year. Earlier attacks on the Marne begun July 18, the Montdidier salient on August 8, and the Juvigny plateau on August 22 preceded the latest strike.

French papers doubt Bulgaria acted without German pressure, warn of Bulgarian treachery, and note the first explicit peace request since the war began. In Hartford, Travelers Insurance begins Liberty loan drive with 6.3 million dollars. Sub-Treasury reports $207,800 bank gain.
