Narrow Escape From Drowning Near Meriden Yacht Club
William Metzger of New Britain and Miss Grace Tobler of South Farms were tossed from a canoe in a swift river current near the Meriden Yacht Club after the craft capsized near a railroad bridge. Brewer of the yacht club spotted them with a searchlight and rescued the pair just in time, delivering them to the club house before they returned home.
