Portland First Winter Weather Snarls Roads
In Portland on March 29 the season's first winter weather brought freezing rain, high winds, and heavy drifting. Two automobiles were stuck on Main Street near Covell's and Avenue as four inch snowfall and strong gusts created deep piles. The drifting snow halted traffic and blocked a bridge, with horses stumbling in drifted areas. Temperatures dropped to 13 degrees overnight.
