Yankee Division and the League of Nations echoed in France

In France all soldiers were called Yanks yet the 26th Yankee Division from New England arrived first among citizen soldiers. Over 100 Middletown residents served in the 102nd U.S. Infantry units. They held Vaux, guarded Paris, and aided Verdun flanks. Their landfall linked the U.S. to the League of Nations, joining in duty beyond Congress. The piece likens the League to a town memorial with diverse opinions yet a shared outcome.
