German forces gather reserves and push renewed drives along a 50 mile Marne Champagne front as Allied troops hold firm. Paris reports 100,000 German losses with French American counterattacks retaking St Agnan La Chapelle and nearby villages. Air power pounds German lines while American troops reinforce the Champagne sector.
Zurich dispatch quotes Arbeiter Zeitung in Vienna noting Austria-Hungary’s food situation has worsened under a military crisis. The report warns that internal conditions are aggravated and that no one can foresee tomorrow’s events.
Meatless days will end in Paris after an official announcement noting a return to normal dietary rules. Authorities indicated the city would resume regular meals and reduce rationing as supply improves and conditions stabilize.
In France American forces, though limited in number, hold firm against Ludendorff’s fifth Kaiser-battle.
