Pershing Awards 32 War Crosses At Marne
Thirty two members of a New England division of the American army were decorated today by General Pershing with the Distinguished Service Cross for heroism at Chemin des Dames and Seicheprey. Recipients include Lieut. Cornelius Beard Boston and Sergeant Benjamin James Brookline among others. The ceremony occurred amid driving rain near Chateau Thierry with troops just from the trenches, mud on khaki uniforms and artillery sounds in the distance.

Washington July 13 The conservation and reclamation division of the quartermaster corps announces vast progress in clothing recovery for the army. In one month 7,350,465 garments were repaired dry cleaned or laundered including 519,122 shoes 70,917 overcoats 81,249 trousers 32,945 flannel shorts 68,000 underclothes 5,201 stockings 15,228 leggings 26,010 hats and 28,425 miscellaneous items. The corps is expanding to meet rising army needs.

Jailiecure Md July 13 Lieut. Lewis Ewing of Baltimore and Johns Hopkins aviation corps has been killed in France. Brother Lieut. Geo W Ewing Jr in France sent the cabled report. Ewing was son of Mrs George W Ewing of Green Spring Valley and educated at Westminster School Conn before entering Hopkins. He enlisted last June.

Bolshevik Soldiers Captured on Murman Coast
