Murder Car Driver Pleads Not Guilty in Hartford Case
Fred L. Klein of Hoboken arraigned in Hartford on murder charge for aiding the gang that shot Captain William F. Madden of the local police at Cheney silk mills. Klein pleaded not guilty, was held without bonds, and the case was continued for one week as state police lead the investigation into the bandits suspected of robbing silk stock. The captain’s funeral drew a large procession and a military salute.
