Cassidy Wanderer Killed by Automobile on East Hampton Road
A 60 year old wanderer known as Cassidy was struck by an auto on the East Hampton road late Saturday night or early Sunday and died from a fractured skull. The body lay beside the road near Hill beyond the residence of First Selectman K Payne. The auto reportedly came from East Hampton toward Middletown, backed away, and left the scene. Cassidy had been seen in town earlier, visiting C H Edwards for a meal, and had a history of wandering each winter, with connections in Haddam, Manchester and Riverhead. An autopsy was planned and authorities sought to identify the automobile occupants.
