Tremors lasted about two minutes with strongest effects north of Seattle causing buildings to tremble and objects to fall as residents reported shocks from 12:44 to 12:45. Washington DC area seismographs also recorded severe shaking with the needle dislodged at Georgetown University observatory during the morning sequence between 3:44 and 5:50. The disturbance appeared centered to the south of Washington and originated some 2,500 miles away.
William J Reynolds known as Billy, a tramp printer, was adjudged insane by Willimantic health officials. He was taken to the State Hospital for the Insane at Brewster's Neck after violent behavior at St. Joseph's hospital. Reynolds had long worked in printing offices across CT and neighboring states and often drifted into Willimantic.
