Crowd attacks German church leader home in August riot
A mob of about 100 men gathered before the Herrmann home on Fountain Avenue, smashed the front and rear doors, dumped garbage and tore hymn books and the Bible from the German Lutheran church. Carl Herrmann and his son were forced to kiss the flag while authorities later issued warrants for four leaders on assault and battery charges. Officers dispersed the crowd as tension rose and investigations began.

He was thrown against the steering wheel and his chest was bruised. Hiram D Evans rushed him to Dr Maitlands office and he returned home by auto. Robert B Ford towed the Dodge to Wilson garage for repairs.

Sixth Regiment Officers Headed to Niantic Camp for Training
