Return of Yankee troops from World War I voyage
On April 8 in Boston, 5824 soldiers from the 26th Yankee division boarded the Agamemnon for Camp Devens with units from Connecticut among them. The Mongolia convoy ship was due in port, carrying 4,409 officers and men of the 51st artillery brigade and others. Veterans recount wounds, prison camps, and blood donations, while families greet the homebound crews on their journey to Ayer and Devens where demobilization begins April 28 after a victory parade.
