The resolution to raise international dues by fifty cents per member and to cut the registration fee by five dollars failed by a three to one vote with delegates from Vancouver Milwaukee Los Angeles leading the opposition. Sponsor Sam Corey Des Moines defended the measure but Grimm offered no argument. Over five thousand registrants attend sessions ahead of Thursday exhibition golf with Bobby Jones.
Memphis Tennessee June 6 The eleventh annual Kiwanis International convention opens with Will Fowler mentioning Henry Heinz as a possible candidate. Heinz reportedly has strong backing as the race gains attention. The morning session includes singing by Sigmund Spaeth and an invocation by Rev I H Estes.
Cedar Rapids police search for two stolen vehicles, a Chrysler coach with license D 1787 taken from Cascade Sunday night, and a red Overland stolen from the rear of the Max Braverman store last night. The Overland owner is A J Yuva of 1304 F Avenue West.

Mayor Loftus and Iowa City Chamber of Commerce members welcomed the delegation as stops included Ely Solon Morse Elmira and Tiffin with Grinnell tonight on the program.

Col Robert W Stewart of Chicago chairman of the board of Standard Oil Indiana will be conferred the degree of doctor of laws by Coe college at commencement exercises tomorrow. Stewart is an alumnus of Coe class of 1886. Colonel and Mrs Stewart and their son Jack are due to arrive today by motor.
Bids on Denecke Co assets were received at a public sale in the federal building court room today. Referee M W O Rieley adjourned at noon until 2 PM with four mercantile firms participating. Newburger of Joplin bid on all assets except notes and accounts, plus fixtures. Laverman Bros of Marinette offered on total assets. Niehaus of St Louis bid on all assets and on stock and fixtures separately. Teibsohn of Cedar Rapids bid on merchandise only.
In Budapest on June 7 AP reports Andreas Kurdi spent three months in prison posing as his son to escape 25 years of an unhappy marriage. When exposed the judge questioned him as the offender and released him. He called prison a fine rest and said another spell would be welcome.
