Harry K. Thaw denied permission to land in England upon arrival from the United States aboard the Aquitania. Officials gave no public reason for the refusal and Thaw was kept aboard while awaiting return to the United States as the ship sails. He had planned a coastwise airplane run and might not be allowed to enter France if the Aquitania stops there.
A large foot powered air machine built by Capt. George White of New York soared above a car tow at St. Augustine Beach. The wings flapped heavily as it gained speed for a takeoff before a control broke on a return run, ending the attempt.
