Americans Capture Over 9 000 Prisoners and Advance 8 Miles

American forces in Lorraine report rapid gains as they reach and pass all objectives in the St Mihiel salient. Prisoners flood in while German counter fire proves ineffective, their barrage signaled early and foiled. Miss Harkey visited from her home below town yesterday.

Patsons Crawford Theater Closes Two Nights Weekly

Patrons are informed that the Patsons Crawford Theater will close on Mondays and Wednesdays due to conditions. On other nights Paramount Artcraft and Goldwyn films will be shown to attract the best clientele and sustain the business. Manager J. R. Linn thanks patrons and notes a 7 PM start after the change.

Glover Family Visits Town from Frijole Ranch

Waiter Glover Mrs Glover and their baby Mary are in town from their Frijole ranch. Mrs Glover reports abundant rainfed grass is better than in years and stock are in excellent condition with good prospects for continued rain. Mr Glover returns to the ranch today while Mrs Glover and Mary stay a few days.

The War Department asks boys and girls nationwide to collect dry fruit pits and nut shells for soldiers in the trenches. County club leaders urge weekly reports to Mrs. Wyman Jenkins, with weights recorded each Saturday.

Democrats of Bernalillo County Hold Uninstructed Delegates

The Bernalillo County Democratic convention chose 48 delegates to the state convention at Santa Fe with each receiving half a vote and no instruction to vote for any candidate. Col. D. K. B. Sellers received the largest delegate vote.

General Pershing reports eight mile push on a fourteen mile front in the St Michiel sector with rapid progress. American forces capture Pannes Energet Virneules Zudicourt and Bolk De Thinncourt, take 4 500 prisoners and 60 German guns. Resistance remains tougher on the western flank as Germany, losing aircraft and men, retaliates near Havricourt southwest of Cambrai.

Today reports from Crowder's office indicate yesterday's registrations ran 8 percent above advance estimates and may reach 14 million men for the manpower pool, according to Associated Press dispatches from Washington.

Strike Edict Warns Bridgeport Machinists of Barred Work

Washington reports that striking Bridgeport Connecticut machinists were told by the president they must return to work and accept the war labor board wage award or be barred from employment for a year.
