New York July 7 agents of the department of justice placed Heinrich Schänhusen former German army attaché aboard a Norwegian steamer after arresting all German agents suspected of activity against the United States ordered from Washington.
The Associated Press reports in Washington that Germans formerly connected with the German embassy or consulates in America were asked to leave the United States. Denver dispatch notes Colorado governor calls for a special legislative session amid a national emergency.
Associated Press reports a dawn raid on London with a large German bomber force. Anti aircraft and British fighters engaged as bombs fell in central areas. Police and troops struggled to control crowds of civilians amid a deafening bombardment.
Washington July 7 a battle over the food control bill focuses on prohibiting both production and consumption of distilled beverages during the war. The vote narrows to whether to withdraw provisions governing distilled liquor in bond, after earlier defeat of a bone dry amendment.
Official reports state that 37 were killed and 141 injured in the raid carried out by the royal flying corps. The enemy machine was brought down during the assault.
