A reader urges Lovington and Carlsbad to buy a rock crusher and build a crushed rock road across the big sand to the Hiainn valley. Drought, floods, and bad roads hinder travel to the annual Loving jiank barbecue. The writer argues a shared county project would benefit both areas and asks for cross county cooperation.
Santa Fe reports 1062 rural eighth grade diplomas mailed to county superintendents, with city graduates pushing total eighth grade completers past 1500. Clara Stephen of Ehrenkee named Eddy county honor graduate. list includes numerous students from Jal, Lakewood, Loving, Carlsbad, Dayton, Monument, Eunice, Knowles, Hobbs, Nadine, and Lake Arthur.
