The Postmaster General Burleson reports an unprecedented year for the post office department ending June 20, 1918. After adjusting for war revenue, postal service income exceeded expenditures by a substantial amount, more than doubling the previous surplus.
The Food Administration lauds wheat exports and conservation efforts, noting America shipped 141,000,000 buses of wheat by year end and saved 121,000,000 bushels for export. It argues abundant supply will allow allies to eat normal wheat loaves at democracy’s table and hints at continued thrift until the new crop.
