British officers estimate German forces used seventy divisions between the Scarpe and Aisne rivers from August 5 to 25. An American submarine was fired on by the Felix Lansing off Five Island and sank. seventeen crew including commander and executive officer are missing. Survivors were landed at New York and Lewes.
