French Make Another Gain On Ten Mile Front

Allied pressure on German lines from Solutions north to the Somme and in the Flanders salient continues. French forces reached a maximum depth of two miles along a ten mile front between the Oise and Aisne rivers.

American steam ship rams submarine off Virginia coast

The Navy announced that an American steamship rammed a German submarine of about 150 tons near Winter Quarter Shoal on August 17.
