The Fifty Club met Saturday at Mrs George Hooker's Porthand Street home with Mrs Hooker and Mrs Charles H Woodbury as hosts. After standard exercises guests enjoyed readings and discussions of current events before a 6 o'clock reception.
Guests dine in a pleasant setting as seats are chosen by place cards. The president gives the blessing and Mrs Hooker and Mrs Woodbury's daughters help serve. After the repast they move to the parlors where some play 500 until the late hour ends the meeting with warm memories.
The Caledonia Forest and Stream Club banquet promotes Boy Scouts and Vermont stream conservation. 135 new members were proposed, with by-laws amended to admit boys from age 12. Dr Willard Scott was named an honorary member amid praise for civic uplift and regional watershed interest.
The Outlook Club gathered Wednesday with Mrs Thex and Mrs Mabel Moffett presenting a paper on The Mistakes in the Kitchen. A Royal Masquerader features nurse garb and Mary Miles Minter with a Globe showing and music. Blake Cowling Co plans adjustable headlight factory on Bay Street. Trustees tackle street oil, concrete and railroad shed repairs. Dow agency sells West Burke farm to R A Carnes. Oscar McFarland visiting on business. Haswell Royal Arch to visit Golden Rule Chapter in Sherbrooke June 3 with return June 4.
