Red Cross Christmas Roll Call Starts Strong in St Johnsbury

County Court Cancels Jury Trials and Imposes Sentences
Court adjourned for Sunday recess leaving only state cases under review. December term should end this week with one case possibly set for early next month. Hollis Way and Ada Way versus Asa Fellows moved to chancery. Hattie E. Jones granted a divorce from John E. Jones for intolerable severity. State’s Attorney presented cases Monday. William Waterman sentenced to Windsor State Prison for one year to 18 months with one year probation. Benjamin Green jailed six to seven months for breaking and entering Natali fruit store. Frank Ross also jailed six to seven months for the same offense in Caledonia County Jail.

Village Caucus Nominates New Village Trustees
A village caucus at Town Hall Monday night nominated an entirely new board of trustees for the annual village meeting on January 12. Harry W. Witters chaired the caucus with Preston E. May as clerk, naming Charles W. Steele for President and Preston E. May for Clerk. David Frechette was a first trustee nominee with Ralph Q. Hamilton as second, and Philip A. Fletcher as third. Standard Toll Rate Set for Telephone Calls Next Year
Washington reports Postmaster General Burleson ordered nationwide standard long distance and toll rates to take effect January 21. About 70 percent of current rates will drop, roughly 50 percent will rise. Night rates drop to half the day rate from midnight to 4 30 a m. Death of Pvt Spaulding in World War I service
Lyndonville mourns Howard Rollins Spaulding aged 28. Parents Mr and Mrs A E Spaulding receive official notice of his death from pneumonia on November 21. He enlisted February 1917, served at Camp Greene and later deployed to Wisconsin, as a member of Headquarters Company 58th Infantry Fourth Division.
