A railroad brakeman, he served with Co D Vermont National Guard and the 57th Pioneer Infantry after crossing into national service, and married Bernice Maude Chaffee during furlough at Passumpsie last July.
In New York City early today five men three masked robbed the cashier and forty guests at an East 13th street restaurant, escaping in a taxicab. The group then robbed a local saloon, took cash from a register and jewelry, before fleeing.
Winnipeg reports the Imperial Ministry of Shipping and the Canadian War Board completed plans to demobilize 226,314 Canadian troops overseas. The return rate aims at about 20,000 men per month, prioritizing married men and those with trades in immediate demand. Distribution by province is outlined, and wives and families, estimated at 35,000, will be brought back by the Department of Immigration to reunite homes promptly.
The Red Cross will not place seals on sale this year but ten will be awarded to every person who joins the Red Cross at the Christmas roll call. Seals have funded tuberculosis work, and this year aim to enlist all in the Christmas roll call with a pledge to sustain tuberculosis relief. Washington December 4 A Senate foreign relations committee postponed until Thursday a general discussion of the Presidents fourteen peace terms started by Senator Frelinghuysen urging a public declaration. The Cummins resolution proposing a Senate committee to the peace conference was likewise put off.
In New York on December 4 as the George Washington prepared to sail with President Wilson aboard, about 2000 American soldiers cheered from the Hudson waters. They roared from the Lapland and other ships as the president’s party passed.
Montpelier December 4 The casualty list reports Michael Delworth of Sumack wounded prompting AG office efforts to locate him. It may refer to Murray Delworth of Passumpsic who was listed wounded last July. A man of the same name joined from Passumpsic in Company I first Vermont later moved to Company P and then to the 102d Infantry in August 1917 and wounded in July this year.

Burlington reports the grand jury will meet Monday to act on the stabbing of Albert M. Prentiss, a station agent who died, with John Luce 2nd sought by Camp Devens authorities. Attorney General Herbert G. Barber of Brattleboro filed the demand for Luce’s surrender, status unchanged.
Christopher Fisher of Wolcott died from a compound fracture of the hip after a tree fell on him Tuesday. He was nearly 78, born in Germany and had lived in the United States since age six. Survived by his wife and six sons, including George E. Fisher of Lyndonville. Cloudy with likely rain or snow tonight.

President Wilson accepted Bernard Baruch’s resignation as chairman of the War Industries Board. The board will cease to exist as a government agency on January 1.
