Lowell man trapped in U S smuggling attempt
Amile Leclair of Lowell Massachusetts held on 500 bond to appear in U S Court at Windsor after a hearing before U S Commissioner Walter H Cleary in Newport on charges of smuggling his 15 year old deaf mute niece Marie Donalda into the United States. Donalda bound over for 200 bond as a material witness. Leclair age 23 and Donalda 15. Immigration officers arrested them.

The Theodore N. Vail will filed in St Johnsbury Probate Office leaves over 2 million in public and private bequests dated October 12 1919 with a May 25 probate hearing. Katherine Vail Marsters is adopted as his daughter and heiress by Vermont law. Readings show large bequests to wife adopted daughter and relatives, annuities for valet Fred Ripa and secretary Miss Tannenbaum, and year’s pay for long-serving staff.
