Insurance Men Hold Gathering in Northeastern Vermont
The Northeastern Vermont Association of Underwriters held its annual meeting at the St Johnsbury House. About 15 members attended and nearly a dozen special agents joined from Boston Springfield Hartford New York Burlington and Lynflonville. Officers elected were A B Noyes president E J Blodgett vice president A W Hawkinson treasurer and an executive committee including Arthur G Sprague Charles D T Stevens and E W Moore. After adjournment the group went to Tine Lodge for a snowshoe gathering and a meal at George C Cary’s sugar house.

April 8 a large fire gutted several buildings at the army aviation repair depot north of Dallas destroying planes and supplies. Estimated property loss reached one million dollars as fires were brought under control.

Five Miles of Newspaper Published In Three Days
The Caledonian Record published a record three day stretch from Monday to Wednesday, printing six page on Monday and twelve page issues on Tuesday and Wednesday. The total paper length would stretch five miles if laid end to end, forming a 52.5 inch carpet from the office to beyond the George Morill Farm. The pile of papers reached 46 feet high and was achieved by the loyal staff with four academy graduates inserting six page supplements.

Detroit Dodge Car Run Returns Home From Trip
A St Johnsbury and Woodsville party returned Wednesday from a Detroit trip where nine Dodge vehicles were acquired for the C H Goss Company. The crew of Harold Jenks, C Roy Calder Wood, Gerry Coburn, Harry Randall, W B Ford, George Wilkie, plus three Woodsville men, covered about 1000 miles with no accidents. They traveled via Montreal, reached Detroit Thursday afternoon, and left at 8 that evening, reaching Toledo that night. Traffic and roads were clear, tulips blooming, and the party noted many new cars en route to eastern dealers. Continued on page four.
