Tuesday morning rain eased anxious growers across the valley. The gentle showers, mainly light with Estancia reporting about 0.53 inches, soaked the soil and encouraged germination. Warm conditions remain, promising quicker growth for seed and sprouted crops.
Warranty deeds recorded including Harvey M. Cluff to J P Dunlavy and J W Corbett covering northwest parcels and sections 29 30 with 1700 dollars. Adolfo Ballejos to Billa Dills in section 8 with 1000 dollars. John W Corbett and J P Dunlavy to Joseph E Young in sections 7 8 17 totaling 1200 dollars. Frank Dibert to Anna M Porter lots 1 2 block 53 Estancia 1 dollar et al. B B Spencer to Francis L Stevenson lot 18 block 9 Mountainair 250 dollars.
Chief Justice William J. Mills orders a special session for June 11 to redraw district lines and assign judges. A battle for Seventh district headquarters pits Socorro against Raton, with Torrance and Curry counties eyed for annexation and assignment to Santa Fe and Alamogordo districts respectively.
A group from Valley left Saturday evening for Alamogordo to attend Federal Court as witnesses or jurors. Attending were John Kelly, D. R. Johnson, D. C. Lovelace, W. H. Leathers, Johnson Pence, Elias Lynch, W. P. Comer, E. L. Garvin, Walter Pace, A. L. Hodges and Mr. Travis.

The new ball grounds east of the track will host a Sunday try-out between Willard and Moriarty. Grounds are in fair condition after recent work, with soil settling soon. Grounds will be enclosed promptly for next Sunday's game. committee seeks funds from local businessmen and names Rousseau Scott and Stubblefield for contact.
Judge J E Braxton united Clara Ebey of Oklahoma City and Philip C Copple of Clovis in marriage at the Valley Hotel. Miss Pearl Lamper and John Berkshire served as witnesses. Copple is a traveling man with headquarters at Clovis.
St Michael's College Santa Fe marks its fiftieth founding anniversary with three day events on June 19 20 and 21. The Christian Brothers recall the college's impact on native youth and note many notable citizens trace success to its instruction. The secretary asks former students and newspapers for publicity and attendance.
Mrs. Patterson of Santa Fe leader of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union for New Mexico spoke at the M. E. Church on Temperance. She highlighted progress and remaining work and, with Miss Sloane, organized a new Union in Estancia with officers elected for the year including Mrs. J. W. Collier as President and Miss Elsie Preston as Corresponding Secretary.
The booklet Education Directory of New Mexico lists 362 city teachers and 767 rural teachers, totaling 1119. It notes 115 professors and instructors in higher institutions, bringing the grand total to 1234 and highlighting progress in territory schools over recent years.
Mrs. Claude Fisher arrived yesterday from Oklahoma claiming Mr. Fisher is tiring of her and has sent her home. Feliciano Chives, Saturnino Lueras and Guillermo Salas of Willard were in Estancia yesterday on business before the local justice of the peace.
Grandma Tiller, a longtime attendee of Sande School for over eighty years, spoke to Antelope Springs Sunday school children. She noted she has attended since before the oldest participants were born.
Dr. D R Johnson returned from Alamogordo where he testified as a witness in the case United States vs John Kelley for intimidation of settlers on the public domain. The case was dismissed after the evidence in the record had been submitted.
Mrs George Falconer of McIntosh was seen shopping in Lis tancia yesterday, with no further details provided about the occasion or items purchased.
Henry Epler returned from Corona Monday noon after bidding on the masonry work for Gorofa's new school building. The two story native stone structure, sized about 54 by 70 feet, will be funded by $10,000 in bonds. Lon Atkinson holds the carpentry contract and work will stretch for several months in the crown city.
The program lists speakers and topics for a B Y P U gathering led by Lucile Fielder and Jack Tuttle. Papers discuss the Foreign Mission Journal, missionary books, and using the local paper to aid missions, with notes on prayer scripture and business matters.
Veterans from Union and Confederate and Spanish American War veterans will attend a memorial service at the M E Church Sunday at 11 o'clock. Rev A M Steele will lead. Drilling on the artesian well east of town resumed after the new line pipe arrived. The crew penetrated hard rock to about twenty feet, hit red clay or gumbo, then red sandstone. By yesterday morning the drill had sunk about eight feet in the sandstone. Mrs. Millenbaugh arrived from Albuquerque for a visit with her son who is clerking for L.A. Bond.
Mr and Mrs Tom Milligan have rented the building south of Dr Mason s office and will reside there Mr Milligan will again do carpentry work in the valley.
The Estancia school board selects J.O. Hughes as principal at eighty five dollars monthly. Miss Minnie Laws Miss Zella Roberts and Mrs Edna Ford will serve as assistants at fifty dollars monthly. Roberts and Laws return from last year. New building ready at term start, promising better, more profitable days for teachers and pupils.
Our Sunday school will be glad to have you with us. Rev A M Steele will preach Sunday morning a memorial sermon. All are invited to attend. The Ladies Aid Society will meet with Mrs J W Collier next Wednesday afternoon. All interested are cordially invited to attend this meeting.
Board of health members urge all property owners to clean lots yards alleys and closets within ten days to prevent typhoid fever and other diseases. Noncompliance will invoke Sec 6 of an act to preserve public health in New Mexico. Dated May 27 1909. Signed by board members.

William Bryant of Valley View travels to Willard. Estancia visitors include S. M. McCrary D. D. Smith and Mr. Frederick. Farmers shuttle to Estancia and Padernal hills for timber and ore rumors. A new Valley View well company drills for Bryant. rain brings moisture and optimism for crops.
Deputy sheriff Jake Wurster arrested A M Hunter in Estancia for flourishing a gun. In J B Braxton’s justice court the charge was changed to violating the Sunday closing law. Hunter posted bonds for appearance before the grand jury.
