The Santa Fe Land Office received a letter from the Assistant Controller of Public Lands clarifying lands set apart for contiguous homesteads in the valley. Final proofs must show cultivation on at least one eighth of each entry and at least a quarter in crops other than native grasses, beginning in the third year, with compliance across both original and additional entries.

Carpenters finished removing the rear partition and placing a new showing in the Bond store of L A Gold, adding a vault at the back with entrance from the storeroom. A small room in the rear will be fitted as an office or rest room for women patrons. The storeroom spans about 80 by 60 feet, among the county’s largest.

A report states a movement by a stern capital to use Es valley salt lakes for salt production. Two parties show interest, one from the western Kar belt, the other unknown to Ostancia. Lakes span about four square miles with brine and salt layers up to a foot thick in dry seasons. Local natives have long depended on the lakes since settlement. The salt source and lake formation remain uncertain with a theory of underground brine flow.
Uncle Harry Averill and his son Jasper came from Albuquerque last Sunday in an automobile. Harry improved in the lower altitude but has worsened again here. They will depart for Dongias, Arizona, home of the younger Averill.
W. Campbell of Lincoln Nebraska urges scientific tillage as a sound investment. He argues dry farming can raise average crop value by three to four million dollars per township and boost wheat yields from 12 15 to 50 60 bushels per acre. The Dry Farming congress should spread ideas and prevent reliance on abnormal rainfall. Farmers are urged to study methods and adopt proven practices to keep land productive.
