Final arrangements for the big Farmers Institute to be held tomorrow afternoon in the Valley. Prof J J Vernon of New Mexico College will discuss irrigation from wells and tree culture from a climatic point of view with a general discussion to follow. A noon picnic dinner will be served and music provided.
T. H. Dabney has rented the Hawkins building and will remove partitions to install a complete line of drug articles and sundry supplies. The post office will stay in the building while Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins seek new living quarters. Dabney plans to return with stock around the 15th.
Rev. Pope conducts nightly revival meetings at the school house this week. Attendees describe the services as well attended and interesting. Several expressed a desire to become Christians and many joined the church, most by letter.
Washington February 24. At the solicitation of Delegate W H Andrews James C Cha of Torrance County has won a clerk position in the House of Representatives. He has arrived in the city and begun duties. This marks the first active New Mexican of Spanish descent employed by Congress in fifty years.
Estancia prepares for a morning wedding as Jerry Patrick Kennedy, Santa Fe Central station agent, marries Mollie Hooligan at the Estancia Hotel he is building. The hotel, to be completed by March 17, will have 102 rooms.
Carl A Dalies of Willard New Mexico obtained a marriage license in the county clerk's office and wed Mrs Margaret E Franz of St Louis in El Paso on a Sunday. Dalies hurried to find a minister after the license and the seven room cottage at Willard is under construction. Local friends in Albuquerque New Mexico and across the territory extend congratulations and good wishes.
The Baptist Church Ladies Aid announce a Box Supper next Wednesday evening at the school house. The program includes a quartet, readings by Miss Ethiyn Angle and Miss May Cowley, recitations by Maurine Maxwell Ruth Lewis Dean Maxwell and others, solos by Mrs. Davis, a Bible drill, and a farmer dialogue. Admission is 16 cents, ladies boxes 50 cents, children's boxes 25 cents.
Julius Meyer of the Mounted Police Force is in town after arriving last night. He reports several cattle rustlers jailed in Guadalupe county thanks to his and Lieutenant Bacw’s efforts. Meyer tracked a suspect from Moriarty to Albuquerque, where the man was arrested and jailed.
The second quarterly meeting of the Methodist Church for this charge will be held on March 25 with Rev. A. P. Morrison of New Mexico officiating. He will preach at 3 p.m. and again at Wight. The quarterly conference will likely be held Monday night.
Names and locations of homestead filings appear for multiple individuals in sections nw4 sec 11 to nw4 sec 7 and sw4 sec 21. Desert Filings include Andrea Torres Ciprian Torres and several Torres family entries with sections 25 26 35.
The Weather Bureau observer notes February had 18 clear days 7 part cloudy and 3 cloudy. Maximum 63 on the 27th and minimum 8 on the 7th. Mean maximum 50.9 degrees and mean minimum 23.3 degrees.
H H Brook gathers data in the valley for a two volume complete history of New Mexico to be published by Pacific States Publishing Co. The work will include unpublished Franciscan and Jesuit manuscripts and input from Chief Justice Mills Prof F A Jones Frank Springer and others.

Notice records the dissolution of the Lucero and Martinez partnership in Pinos Wells Torrance County New Mexico on February 2 1906 due to Pedro Lucero retiring. Manuel Martinez will continue the business and settle all claims and debts. Signatories include Luvero y Martinez Pedro Lucero y Torres and M G Martinez.
A new time card took effect last Monday affecting the Central line and its connection with the Limited on the Rock Island Southwestern at Torrance. Arrival and departure times at Etancia change very little. The full time card is published in another column.
