Governor Hagerman appoints Pedro Schubert after Julius Meyer declines the post. Schubert, a longtime resident, will assume duties immediately with Meyer transferring to Istancia to aid in law enforcement. The community regards the change favorably and expects effective service.
Dr F B Romero formerly of Albuquerque arrived last Saturday to settle in Estancia as his future home. He has secured a lot on Fifth Street north of the News Print Shop and will erect an office building at once. Known throughout the valley and territory as proprietor of La Sanadora medicine, he aims to help develop Estancia and the surrounding country.
The General Superintendent of Missions for New Mexico Rev Geo R Varney of Alamogordo will preach at the local schoolhouse next Saturday night and Sunday morning at eleven oclock All are welcome J W Campbell
All Roman Catholics or a family member are asked to register with J. P. Kennedy to determine the number of Catholics in the valley and assess the possibility of a church this summer. The note expresses anticipation of help and goodwill from Protestant friends.
