Under the cottonwoods at the spring Estancia plans a community event with speeches led by Fred H. Ayers J P Kennedy and Hon J T Connor of Toledo Illinois. A 1 30 p m ball game Santa Fe boys versus Estancians plus races hound and badger events and a picnic dinner with free lemonade.
Sunday morning and evening services led by the pastor. The official board meets Tuesday evening in the church lecture room. The annual conference, to be held in El Paso Texas on October 2, will be presided over by Bishop Quayle. Ladies Aid Society met at Mrs Freeman’s home Wednesday. Sunday School attendance rose 30 percent in the past month. July will be an especially good month with unusual Sunday School services. Intermediate and adult classes will consolidate and Mr Hancock will teach the Bible class. The last quarter of the conference year begins this month and members are urged to review nine months of work and contributions to church welfare and community betterment.
In Mountainair area exploration near Priest canyon the new camp reports rich silver ore with some gold present. Ores show depth of about eighteen feet and samples from land owned by John W. Corbett R C Locke and other Mountainair residents. Prospectors are mostly farmers from Estancia valley awaiting larger development and clearer assay results.
The Monday auction of Alta Vista lots and casing owned by the Esteancia Public Service Company drew several bidders. The unused casing was bought by Tuttle & Son. The property with a deep well was purchased by A. Abbott. Proceeds will be applied to the companys outstanding indebtedness.
Elder D T Broadus will preach at the Frontier school house four miles west of Mcln itosh next Sunday at 3 and 8 oclock. The local community is invited to attend.
W. W. Wagner of McIntosh visited Estancia on Monday this week, according to local travel notes.

The Estancia County Institute begins August 2 for two weeks with same instructors and an illustrated Civics and Health lecture. Burt asks teachers to confirm attendance.
Valley View residents like Big Foot Moore Albert Brantley and Matt Wheeler traveled to the county seat Saturday. Several others visited Estancia Moriarty Lucia and Queen City with social outings and a ball game.
The valley endures 93 degrees in the shade with hotter readings in Denver and Chicago. Daily local showers and warmth boost crop growth, contrasting with last year’s killing frost. A fair season ahead suggests a strong harvest across the valley.
A Wednesday evening fire damaged the Duran Weekly News office causing loss of printing materials and partial paper size. Volunteers used wet blankets and buckets to save the building. presses were torn apart and much local news and ads were lost. Regular issues will resume next week with some ads missing.
A party led by Mrs Minnie Brughback with Miss Katey Smith, Mr and Mrs J T Keleley and family, Mr and Mrs S B Jones and Will Brumback plans a trip to the mountains. They will spend Saturday Sunday and Monday camping in the Manzano shadow and hope to visit the Rea ranch at the summit.
