Watermelons Eaten From Last Year’s Crop Near Estancia
Has Been Eating Watermelons mentions T Blaney four miles west of Estancia growing watermelons for dinner on January 15. The melons were stored in a cellar from last season and kept sweet. He planned a Christmas dinner but ate one after Christmas and another on New Year’s Day. The January 15 fruit is the last of the prior year’s crop.

Second Death in One Week in Estancia Valley
Roxie Beall eleven died of caret fever Monday and buried Tuesday in Estancia Cemetery. Ru died of same disease last Thursday. Brother with fever improved. Family had lived in valley six to seven weeks locating southeast of Estancia. Our sympathies go to the bereaved family.

Large Acreage Will be Planted in Potatoes

Work Horses Brought In From Swink for Local Farmers
R L Porter, now settled in the valley, shipped twenty head of young work and driving horses yesterday from Swink Colorado. He attended the Denver Stock Show but found prices excessive. The horses, bred and healthy, came from Arkansas Valley pastures and hay ricks and should acclimate quickly for heavy farm work. Local farmers seek stronger work stock beyond the Mexican branchos.
