Jail Birds Escape From County Jail By Bricking Out
George Boyle and Louis McKinley escaped the county jail by loosening a brick in an eight inch thick wall. Officials, including Sheriff Meyer and Deputy Harris, are pursuing them. Commissioners had refused to fund steel cages, leaving the jail vulnerable despite nearly $2,000 in local funds.

Child Burns to Death Near Estancia
A three year old boy, Thurman Cole, died after his dress caught fire while watching his brothers burn weeds near Estancia. Funeral services were held at McIntosh Cemetery with Rev. A. M. Steele presiding. The family had recently moved from Camp County Texas and received the community’s sympathy. H. P. Likes plans to leave soon after final homestead proof. A little girl near Estancia is treated for ear lacerations and bruises from a dog incident. A. N. Shelley, inju red wrenched ankle while loading wood in the mountains and travels on crutches.

Deep Well Drillers Move Casing to New Site at Alta Vista
