The Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist Church will hold a dinner on Thursday December 15 1910 open to the public. A bazaar will accompany the event featuring home made articles for Christmas gifts, offering an opportunity to secure holiday gifts locally.
The Mountainair Chautauqua enters its fourth year with events from August 2 to 13, plus a Normal in connection beginning two weeks earlier for a four week term. Santa Fe offers a special rate of one and one fifth fare for thirty days starting with the normal schedule. The Chautauqua committee invites educational and religious groups to use the tabernacle at Chautauqua Park, highlighting Mountainair’s central Rocky Mountain location and rich local history as an ideal summer convention and vacation site. In a Tuesday night event at the Methodist Church under the W. O. T. U. sponsors eight local young ladies competed for a Silver Medal. Miss Rena Smith secured the prize after careful judging as a large audience enjoyed the program and the effort of all contestants.
A contem porary editorial mocks President Tafts Congress message for excessive length noting most papers publish only a portion of about 20 000 words while comparing Tafts verbosity unfavorably with Theodore Roosevelt and joking that the full text would fill about fifty newspaper columns in standard type.
Mr and Mrs Charles B Cornell announce the marriage of their daughter Fay Anita to Mr George Stark Alter on Wednesday evening December 14 1910 at 830 at the residence of Dr and Mrs J Utley in Galena Ohio. The couple will reside at home after December 25 in Willard New Mexico. The bride and groom are well known in Estancia with many friends wishing them well.
Earl Bright writes from Newkirk Oklahoma that the area has had no rain for six months and predicts a return in spring to plant a crop. He praises the Valley and asks Dr Hazen Spores and Endicotts to stay in touch with the Valley News.
