Torrance County Bonds Fetch Above Par Returns
The $25 000 Establishment Bonds of Torrance County were delivered to Solomon Luna by the county commissioners at Estancia on August 9. They were sold to E H Rollins and Sons of Denver for $25 750 plus accrued interest, yielding Valencia County a total of $81 375 for the $25 000 bonds, about twenty five and a half percent above par. Not bad for Torrance County bonds.

The new Estancia Valley school building is prepared for the fall term beginning Monday September 6. Principal T N Russell has accepted the position and will arrive in Estancia to start work. A heavy Friday and Sunday storm drenched the Estancia valley north and west of town. Arroyos swelled to river-like torrents, with near drownings in Holges Draw as a Sutton girl and horse were rescued. Paup and Richart near-misses ended with a rampaging meadow flood. Dr Boyd was stranded briefly but returned safely. Damage offset by late crops turning to feed. two-year comparison shows earlier crops may still mature.
