The Ideal school board selected Miss Sadie Brown as principal at sixty dollars monthly and D C Morrill as primary teacher at forty. The term will be at least six months with funds in sight to possibly extend. The First Annual Torrance County Fair is set for September 11 16 at Estancia with special trains and bands.

Mrs A H Cox brings in the first ripe pumpkin, a Golden Beauty weighing about seven pounds. Grown on her ranch northwest of town without irrigation, it appears ripe and ready for Yankee pies. Had it been irrigated, it could have doubled in size.

Dunlavy Mercantile Company outgrows current quarters and plans a large new wareroom near the tracks. They will stock a larger assortment of goods and install hardware and barn equipment. A H Garnett will join the firm as partner once construction finishes.
Local Builders Move Quick on Ranch Homes
IT J Heady has several men on a Milton Dow residence in town and began a cottage for Miss Grace Logan on her ranch. J M Carlisle is erecting a cottage for A A Hine on his ranch northwest of town. Ralph A Marble is building a four room cottage on his east ranch, with Wash and Childers as contractors. This shows progress for the town and valley.

The Torrance County Fair Association arranged greatly reduced round trip fares on the Santa Fe Central to Estancia during fair week. From Santa Fe to Estancia is 1.50 for adults with children under 12 at 75 cents. other routes list 50 cents to 1.00. Excursions depart Santa Fe at 8:00 am on September 13 and 14, with travel valid September 16 to 17.
