Assistant Superintendent Amado Chavez of Santa Fe spent Tuesday in our town visiting the teachers institute. He praised the practical work, the interest of teachers, and noted the good effort by young American teachers in Mexican districts helping native children learn English.
Frank Dibert of Santa Fe reports that Luther Foster of the New Mexico College of Agricultural Science will visit Estancia this season. He plans a lecture on ary farming and intensive cultivation, topics tightly linked and seen as vital for valley residents and possibly the county fair.
Tor rance county residents are urged to support the inaugural Torrance County Fair. With limited funds the association seeks citizen funding and labor to ready the grounds. Plans include horse racing purses, ball games, music, and other amusements to attract all, calling for cooperative effort across the county.

L A Bond and family tested a newly purchased driving horse when it bolted on a return trip north of town. Bond was thrown from the buggy, Mrs Bond and the baby were badly bruised after the wheel struck the infant, but the child survived after a long recovery. The back seat boy was found insensible but later recovered with minor injuries. J B Largette attempted to drive the horse home and narrowly escaped harm at the same spot.
Last Sunday a crowd from Estancia went to Willard to watch a ball game between Willard and Estancia. With most regular Estancia players absent, the Estancia team did not play well, though attendees enjoyed the trip and felt the players were fairly paid for the journey. Willard won by two scores to one.
