The ninth session of the League of Nations council adjourned after smoothing out four-nation controversies. It secured a suspension of hostilities in the Panamanian crisis and moved toward settlement of the Aland Islands issue. A Finnish reservation, deemed non insurmountable, was explained as technical.
Count Quinones de Leon and Baron Keishiro Matsui have been named to represent the league in the Polish-Lithuanian settlement. A tentative decision is expected for the league council's approval at the October session, with public opinion seen as a factor in acceptance.
Jack Hardy of New York 28 West Thirty-seventh street auctions himself for 5000 dollars claiming health and good character. He demands 3000 cash at signing and rest in installments and says proceeds will partly repay a generous woman who cared for him like a mother.
