Lexington launches cooperative marketing with a quota of 8500 bales amid plans for the new Lexington Picture Theatre. The theater opens Friday evening at 230 o clock for the community, promising high quality films and local entertainment.
The Institute of the Western Division of the Womans Missionary Union holds an informal conference at Connie Maxwell Church Greenwood with speakers Dr. C. E. Burts Miss Emma Leachman and Miss Ada Bell. Sessions on April 19 20 feature Orlepans Round Table discussions and missionary society participation urged.
The Culler school invites all to a Friday April 21 program starting at 1 p m featuring speeches dialogues and a play Sulways in Trouble performed by the students. No admission fee.
Miss Myrtle Hendrix of Leesville will represent Lexington county at Palmafesta in Columbia as queen. She led by 403 votes at the final count, and will be honored with festivities and royal entertainment during the event. The Dispatch News congratulates her and predicts a fine showing for Lexington.

Local families including Sharpe Williamson Jetcoat Rutland and Sturkie relatives gathered for a fish fry on Edisto banks Saturday night and Viola Rutland returned home from a visit with Mrs. Sturkie.
The Harmon Drug Co presents a three day exhibition showing effects possible with Devoe paint. A factory representative oversees the display as many visitors learn home decorating techniques. Harmon Drug Co is the exclusive agent in the territory.
A shooting occurred near midnight on April 6 at Jeff King's. Oliver Bachman was shot in the left shoulder from the front by a .38 calibre pistol. the wound is not serious. The alleged shooter is J R Gunter.
A county demonstration event led by Jas W Shealy gathered at the county courthouse to promote pledges for the cooperative cotton marketing association. Texas speaker J C Coghlan urged farmers to join, detailing warehouse storage, prompt sale, and draft availability, with South Carolina and Alabama as the remaining missing quotas.

The Lexington Potato Growers Association invites all members to meet at the courthouse next Saturday at four o clock to discuss stock arrangements. New members may join and for each share of stock buyers may store twenty bushels of potatoes. Comedians may attend as spectators.
Batesburg Leesville High School defeated Bamberg 7 to 2 on the Bamberg field. Team members J R Leonard J K Cooner Leon N Watson W H Fallon and Colwell Cullum accompanied the players by automobile. The town held Confederate Veterans business meeting with about ten members present. A rabid dog scare led to many dogs being killed or penned with no human injuries reported. Federal agent praised Batesburg Leesville vocational program noting strong equipment and agriculture class work under Prof John J Wolfe. Dr B R Timmerman returned from Clemson College after trustees meeting. Clean up days were set for April 17 18 and 18. Community updates include visits, contests, and local notices.
The Palmetto Literary Society plans a Friday program on April 14 featuring musical selections jokes readings debates and recitations. The Upper Division of the Womens Missionary Union of the Lexington Baptist Association meets at Lexington Baptist Church on Saturday April 22 starting 10:30. Devotional services, reports, round table discussions on stewardship tithing and mission study, lunch break, and young peoples work are planned with multiple leaders listed.
The Pond Branch school will hold commencement exercises with the advanced grades performing a play titled The Dust of The Earth on Friday April 21 at 8 p m. The intermediate and primary grades perform Saturday April 22 at 8 p m. Everyone is invited to attend.
Miss Marguerite Whitten married Harvey Bagby at the Methodist parsonage in Lexington on April 1 1922 with the Reverend Whitten officiating. The couple will reside in Hawkinsville Georgia and receive best wishes from many friends in the area.
