In Anderson county a 26 year old man Samuel N Hyde says he planned the July 13 murder of his wife and her father, explaining he wanted to marry his wife and faced the threat of a rope. He described entering the Beasley home after waiting, firing, and killing both, then surrendering to the sheriff. The tale includes details of the fatal confrontation and his willingness to pay the penalty.
Mr W. Retford of Princeton North Carolina writes to The Herald from Dillon noting overdue arrears and a plan to settle. He sends funds totaling 11.83 to cover back subscription and travel for 120 months, apologizing for prior neglect and vowing better treatment of the paper.
At a Columbia meeting of the dis pen sary winding up commission three members spoke with Fred H Dominick noting a future report that may reveal items of interest to Thomas B Felder. Dominick Wallace and Thompson cite limited current progress due to an accountant's illness and promise action at the next session in a few weeks with figures showing attorney fees exceed graft funds by about fifteen thousand dollars.
In Robeson County North Carolina a 20 year old man William Small son of Gatewood Small was found dead at a gathering in Alfordsville four miles from Star Line. Sheriff McNeill Deputy Barnes and Coroner Rameke were summoned. An inquest will be held to determine if death was accidental or intentional.
