A fire Saturday night leveled W. Bethea's tobacco barn two miles west of Dilton, valued at about 5000 dollars with 1000 bushels of oats cotton seed and farming equipment lost. No insurance. Origin unknown though thought caused by someone entering the barn smoking. A separate note mentions soap used to conceal valuable stones by evading inspectors with a hole and moothing.
McKay and Ellerbe win in county primary report

Mrs Eliza A Campbell aged eighty three died Wednesday night at her home about three miles from Dillon. She was a highly esteemed character who raised a large family. She was laid to rest at the McDuffie burial ground Thursday afternoon at 4. Funeral services were led by Rev J A McQueen and Rev Geo B Edwards. She survived by daughters Mrs M M McKellar and Mrs Q B Godwin and sons W Sit Campbell and Oscar Campbell among others in Dillon County.

Blenheim Man Shoots Lawyer A P Spell In Red Springs Road
A. P. Spell, attorney of Head Springs, was shot and seriously wounded by Clarence Traywick of Blenheim on the Red Springs road near Lumberton. The shooting followed a collision between Spell’s Dodge and Culbreth’s Chevrolet. Traywick fired at close range after cursing, injuring Spell just below the heart. Culbreth restrained Traywick, and Spell was taken to Tho wlon hospital and reported by doctors as favorable. Traywick and Culbreth were both involved in the crash. Culbreth was treated for facial wounds and jailed on bond. Traywick was later arrested and jailed.
