DROWNINGS AT BEACH MARK COUNTY TRAGEDY
Myrtle Beach and Conway were shaken by a double drowning as Richard Nichols 18 and Annie Sessoms 12 both of Conway perished while trying to save each other after a wave knocked down three Nichols siblings and Sessoms. Nichols and Sessoms died after heroic efforts to rescue the others, with medical teams rushing to the scene and burial planned at Lakeside Cemetery.

N A Moody and family spent last Sunday night at the home of Mr N E B McQueen in Calvary returning home Monday. Mr W R McCormick and family of Calvary visited friends and relatives in this section. It appears the community may lose their blacksmith as W C McKenzie contemplates quitting. No marriages to report yet.

Crop conditions in this vicinity have dramatically improved in thirty days with regular light rainfall. The corn crop is excellent and land values remain high. A local buyer paid 150 per acre for twenty acres and recently resold at 200 per acre. People are purchasing lands in North Carolina, and local buying is strong.

An order directs Capt. Rob Carmichael, quarter master, after temporary duty in Atlanta, to proceed to Fort Moultrie for temporary July duties, then to New Orleans.
