Lake View Miss Mabel Norton spent the weekend with relatives at Columbia. Miss Sallie Elvington returned from a two week visit to friends at Lamberton and Fairmont. Miss Ros Smith came back from a visit to her mother at Marion. Miss Gertrude Rogers of Albany Ga is spending several weeks with local friends. M Ford returned from southern markets to buy dry goods shoes and motions for Ford Bros Meore. W B Ford H H Bailey and W M Gaddy bought a Main Street lot to build a large brick store and open hardware and furniture. Miss Alma Goodyear spent a few days last week with friends at Fork. Tracey Stackhouse in mercantile business in south West Georgia spent several days with his parents en route on a business trip.

Physician Killed in Florence Duel
A pistol duel in the Florence courthouse morning hours left Dr. William Iderton fatally wounded by J Wilber Hicks and Geddings Durton. Hicks, Iderton’s attorney in an alimony suit, returned fire after Iderton rushed the doorway to his office. Iderton died. Hicks survived with nonfatal wounds. The incident stems from a family dispute over alimony and divorce. Hicks and Durton are in custody awaiting further proceedings.

Auto Crash Kills Three near Barnwell Depot
A Feb 10 accident at the Atlantic Coast Line depot near Barnwell, South Carolina, killed three occupants of a car from Kline. Miss Ready and Fred Lee died at the scene, a Negro man named Johnson died later. Miss Moody was seriously injured. An inquest and coroner's jury were held that evening.

Mallory man killed in bridge plunge near Hamlet
G Robeson of Mallory South Carolina was instantly killed when the automobile driven by Mannie Shapirre left a bridge over Seaboard Railway three miles east of Hamlet North Carolina. His wife and sister in law were injured along with other occupants. Shaptery was paralyzed from the waist down. Mrs Roberson in critical condition.

Extension of income tax returns announced by Internal Revenue
The Internal Revenue Commissioner announced extensions for March 1 deadlines to filings due April 15 for individual, partnership and corporate returns. Delays in forms and regulations caused postponement. excess profits forms for three classes and fiduciary returns are still pending, with promises for next week. Corporations on fiscal year basis receive the April extension.

South Carolinians on the Tuscania list
Four South Carolinians are the only ones officially recorded aboard the Tuscania. Wayne Bell of Marion and Albert Huckx of Branchville served in the Twentieth Engineers while W. J.
