In Buffalo on September 26 the Albany conference of anti Hearst Democrats practically withdraws Jerome from governor race. Delegates from about twenty five counties choose to back either Judge Gaynor or Meyer Adam depending on expediency.
The Democratic state convention in Buffalo opened at 12:50 p.m. with State Chairman Cord Meyer presiding. Lewis Nixon of New York was elected temporary chairman amid applause and gave a brief address before the session adjourned after twenty four minutes.
Iowa farmer Frank Blunt discovers a hoard of gold coins totaling $50,000 at the bottom of an abandoned well on land once owned by the late Courtwright. The discovery, made on the Webster City area farm, is described as a remarkable windfall from a long-forgotten era.
