Three floors of the McClung building at Wabasha and West Third streets collapsed in the afternoon. Eight workmen fell into a deep basement about 50 feet. Five were freed within 15 minutes. others rescued after hours. The site belonged to Pabst Brewing, condemned previously for demolition. Several taken to city hospital with serious, but not fatal, injuries. Officer Cowan alerted rescue units and a rapid response followed.
