Fire at Frank Barlows farm four miles east of town late Tuesday morning October 16 1888 consumed the barn and outbuildings with the house nearly spared. Mrs Barlow helped fight the blaze while Mr Barlow suffered facial neck and hand burns. Loss estimated around 5000 with 650 insurance. Neighbors aided but machinery and grain were lost amid extreme heat. The family seeks temporary shelter with a neighbor.
