Mrs. Higgins Dies After Illness in City Home
Mrs. Thomas D. Higgins wife of a Chicago & North-Western conductor died at her Utah street home at six in the morning on May 26. She was twenty seven, formerly from Sheboygan and Potter county near Gettysburg where she married in 1892. Suffering from consumption, she leaves a husband and two month old daughter along with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Schlachter. The community extends its sympathy.

Funeral Services for Mrs Higgins Held at St. Martin's
Funeral services for the late Mrs Thoe D Higgins were held Wednesday morning at St Martin's Church with Father J J Shea officiating. A large gathering attended as floral tributes were numerous and beautiful. The remains were sent to Gettysburg by special train for burial, accompanied by family and many friends.

Law Governing Estrays and County Procedures
The statute requires notice within fifteen days after taking up estrays to be published in three public places or in a county newspaper three times. After twenty-two days, if the owner has not claimed, the takers must file affidavits with a justice of the peace who will appoint three appraisers to value the stock. Appraisers return results to the justice, who will advertise the property for three weeks. If no owner appears within one year, the stock becomes the property of the takers if valued under fifty dollars. if over fifty dollars, the justice advertises for sale and any proceeds beyond costs go to the county. Penalties exist for noncompliance.
