Twelfth Annual State Contest Promises Large Attendance
The twelfth annual intercollegiate state athletic and oratorical contests will be held in this city on May 24 and 25. Five colleges participate Yankton Mitchell Redfield Brookings and Huron. Events include athletics at the State Fair grounds a girls basketball game Redfield vs Brookings and Brookings vs Mitchell baseball. The oratorical contest occurs Thursday night at the M E church with five contestants. Winners advance to a championship round in Brookings with North Dakota representatives in early June.

Death of C A Marshall of Soldiers Home board
C A Marshall veteran and member of the Soldiers Home board died in a city hospital Monday night after a period of illness at his Rapid City home. His wife kept vigil with him. Remains were sent back to Rapid City Wednesday morning as a large group of Home veterans accompanied them to the station, mourning a dear friend.
