Panxer May 4 reports a Salem convention nominating three candidates for delegates to the constitutional convention but only two stood in the field, one from McCook and one from a county, none from Turner. M P Stroupe of Aberdeen and Wm Stoddard of Groton were today named as delegates to the Sioux Falls convention by the district Republican committee. Both are long-time residents and regarded as capable men.

Survey party from Watertown to Forest City returns after exploring a line to Deadwood. They found a viable route for a railroad, confirm coal potential at Fox Ridge, and prepare to complete surveying between Gettysburg and Forest City. Bids are asked to price construction to begin by July.
