Washington June 23 The senate stretched the tariff bill to 56 pages setting a progress record for this debate. The last two schedules of the dutiable list paper and sundries were finished apart from a few items. The free list was completed in three hours. Debate was light with focus on matches and fuses and proposed amendments on cotton and raw cotton.

Indictments Planned in Wall Street Pool Case

In New York on June 23 observers say Andrew P. Morrison and associates plan to press grand jury indictments against several Wall Street firms for gambling. The case targets dealing in puts and calls as a possible violation of anti gambling law and follows Morrison's raid and arrest last Wednesday. His supporters claim the action is biased by rival Stock Exchange members harmed by his competition.

Van Nortwick Properties Restored in Settlement

A special to The Wisconsin from Appleton reports a complete settlement with the Van Nortwick creditors and discharge of the assignees. The Fox River Valley manufacturing firms and related properties were turned over to owners, with Wisconsin properties of J. S. Van Nortwick largely preserved. Losses fall mainly on W. N. Van Nortwick and the Western Paper Bag Co.
